Stella is the BILs new dog.

They (the SPCA where they got her) say she is about 9 months old. She
currently weighs about 40 lbs.

I can't decide whether to tell you she's a Generic Yellow Mutt ('cos she
is) or say that she looks a lot like Brenin, who's a mixture of Redbone
Coonhound, Chow, and the-Deity-only-knows-what. :-)

Whatever she is, she's nicely put together... I'm a sucker for lean,
muscular dogs like that.

The shelter might very well be right. Something in that dog looks so very
GSDish, and you could expect to get just that color, coat type, tail and
ears from that breed cross. I'd say that the muzzle should be a tad
shorter, but this isn't still impossible. Naturally the nearly inevitable
Pit Bull might still be found somewhere in the pedigree, but in this case
it sounds like the shelter has managed to get the breeds correct.

I think it is a mix between an All American Block Dog, and a
Heinz 57. Fine looking dog though.

Heh. What with the CBC on strike, it may be a while before HNIC is on.
Although, what with the NHL having been on strike for a year, the timing
couldn't be better for the union(s) ivolved to get some good deals.
