Your dog is legally not a purebred, so you are breaking the law
by offering him at stud as such.

Have a nice day.

What's "rare" about a long-haired Dachshund?

Did you know that 90% of dogs come from breeders like yourself? Dogs woud
be healthier and we would kill fewer of them if people took the time to
learn more about it. Consider that it might be better to learn about the
bad things that can happen *before* you experience them first hand.
While I wish you would do a LOT of learning, if you will gree to do just
one bit of larning it may at least spare the some misery and heartache.
You need to research dapple and merele breeding. Hopefully that reading
will help you understand how much more there is to know.

This is the dog that suddenly began pissing all over your house, yes?
Have you had him to the vet yet? While you're there why not ask the
vet's opinion on your plan to pimp your unregistered dog over the internet.

You don't mention his coloring but by the "one blue eye" and "unique", I'm
reading between the lines and guessing he's a dapple (merle in other
breeds). If this is true and someone brings a dapple bitch to be bred to
your boy, you do know the risks of breeding dapples (merles) together don't
you? From a dapple to dapple breeding, a fourth of the litter will be
double dapples. In collies we call dogs with a double dose of the merle
(same thing as dapple) gene, double dilutes. In collies (and other merle
breeds with a lot of white) about 99% of the double dilutes will be deaf and
blind. In Dachshunds, only about half of the double dapples will be deaf and
blind. The others will have some useful vision & hearing. This is assuming
the two parents do not have white. If your or the bitch have white (I
believe it's called patched or pied in Dachshunds?), it's the same
percentages as for collies that the double dapples will be deaf & blind.

I know of a very cute double dapple named "Underfoot." His breeder thought
her dapple Dachie bitch was very unique and had her bred to another dapple.
Neither one had bred Dachies before and knew anything about the dapple gene
except that it's really "rare" & "unique." Underfoot's owner brought him to
the vet school when he was about 12 weeks old because she had difficulty
training him where they discovered that he's 100% deaf and can only see
light and shadow. Underfoot is now 2 years old and much loved but he's a
high maintenance dog and not what they had wanted when they bought a Dachie.

Chris and her smooth collies,
Pablo & Lucy

Wow. Thank you all for your ignorant, useless posts. Your not making
yourselves look too great being shallow and just plain nasty to a
newcomer. How do you sleep at night with such a bad attitude? Knowing that
really you've got nothing helpfull to say, and feeling good about putting
another person and her dog down. Have fun getting that stick out of your
ass.

Sure alot of people here can be pretty snobnoxious
sometimes, but the information they gave you was good.
Learn from it or not. Your choice.

Most of the posts were not obnoxious. Truthfully, you offered no valid
reason why your dog is worthy of breeding. Sometimes the truth hurts but
that doesn't make it less the truth.
