warning ASPCA and Katrina Fundraising
All -- My husband's cousin works at the ASPCA and says they have ONE
staff member in New Orleans and they are sending out all kinds of emails trying to fundraise and lie about their real role. Staff at the ASPCA in NYC are up in arms -- apparently, they are raising all of this money that goes into the general fund and there is no guarantee it will go to help animals in katrina. Even worse, staff there are furious at the slow response (typical) by senior ASPCA people. Dont donate to the ASPCA - give to HSUS or one of the other groups that have been on tv helping the animals! The ASPCA is a large organization with lots of red tape and overpaid execs - the President makes over 150K and most of the top people make 6 figures!!! Ask to see their financials before you give them money. Just like the federal government -- the bigger the organization, the more the red tape and the less your dollars go to animals! |

My neighbor's uncle's wife's brother says that unsubstantiated rumors based on friends of friends of relatives claiming that their employers are trying to defraud the public should be verified before being acted upon. For example, how do I know that you're not affiliated with the HSUS and trying to divert donations from the ASPCA to you? I don't, and when I search Google for any other posts you've made they're all to animal groups telling people not to donate to the ASPCA. You've never posted about anything else, ever, apparently. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - "Finger pointing" is how incompetent, corrupt political leaders describe the public interest in accountability -- Max Sawicky |

The HSUS is a larger organization than is the ASPA; its last reported annual revenue was $72 million and assets $100 million compared to the ASPCA's $46 million and $65 million respectively. And if you're offended by the ASPCA president's salary, why aren't you protesting the $209K salary paid to HSUS president Paul Irwin back in *1996* (presumably it's even larger now) and the $238K paid to HSUS Chief Executive Officer John Hoyt in the same year?[1] Ask to see their financials before you give them money. Always a good idea. It's an even better idea to check out an organization's financials before you recommend that other people donate money to them. What about help disabled people get dogs to service them. Good for the dog,
good for the person. A win win situation.
