Default WIll two small dogs share a paper, as in "paper trained"?

We have heard of a 2 yr old toy poodle whose owner is very ill and is
looking for a home for the poodle.

The problem is the ill owner was quite elderly when she adopted the
poodle puppy and then her health took a quick turn for the worse (lung
cancer) and she was not able to properly housetrain the pup.

We have a 9 yr old Malese who has always "gone" on newspapers placed in
our bathrooms, I wonder if we adopted the poodle could we train her to,
also, go on his papers?

I thought that maybe if she "saw" what they were for, she might get the
idea and go there, too.

I'm afraid that if we don't adopt her (no one wants her now because of
the lack of housebreaking) they will just put her to sleep when the
owner dies which may be soon as she is in hospice (at home) right now.
It would be a terrible shame to put a little 2 yr old down because the
owner wasn't able to housebreak her.

Thanks !!

I think you'll be in good shape. When I got my 2nd beagle, he took a lot of
his cues from the first one, which made the training a lot easier because
it's consistent between the two. Shortly after the paper training, I moved
to "potty" training, by giving them a specific area in the back yard,
covered with sand so the consistency of the ground is unique as "their
area". Surprisingly they took to it quite well.

Hope that helps.
