Default Golden with seizures from meningioma

My best friend just had an MRI scan today showing the cause of her 10 days of
seizures, a benign meningioma. We are going to have it operated on by a
neurosurgeon tommorrow. I hope she lasts another few years, she is 11 now and
otherwise acts half her age.

Is there a way to check out dog breeding lines for these types of life
threatening problems when you are going to adopt a puppy or for that fact to
find breeds with the longest life span? If I ever get another dog after mine
I want to delay this agony as long as p0ssible

You may want to also post this in rec.pets.dogs.breeds - there
are a few people there very knowledgeable in genetics and
pedigree analysis who don't read this group.

I suggest you check the GRCA (Golden Retriever Club of America) site. The
GRCA is involved in various research projects having to do with the health
of goldens.
