Default Poodle Scratching Too Frequently

So how do you determine if she has an obsessive compulsive disorder?
Sometimes she really scratches hard so it definitely looks like something is
bothering her.

You just got hooked by replying to this well known
netloon and troll. Once he baits you as he does
with others, you became troll bait and he will flame
you and harass you through this newsgroup and in email.

PLEASE killfile this well known Jerry Howe aka
The Amazing Puppy Wizard who is using alot of alias in
here. He is a pathological liar and net kook.

All he does is slander and defame people in
here. He knows nothing about dog training or
canine behavior. He just makes this up and
has been trolling this newsgroup for years.

Ever the optimist, I'd say the good thing is that this means
that there's one fewer asshole.

now that you mention it, i think it may be a four-assed
baboon.

but hey, on the bright side, the weather has cooled off a (wee)
bit, and the coyotes seem to have moved down to our neck of
the woods.

Have her vet do a thorough check of the areas to see if there is
something there that you might miss. You could also try a regimen to
see if the dog has food allergies as that can cause scratching. An
animal behaviorist could also help. Keep a diary of when and where
she scratches and other behaviors that crop up a lot and when and that
might also help you unravel the situation. You will generally see
more issues than just the scratching if a dog has OCD that requires
medication. Sometimes they are obsessed by light like from
flashlights or the sun shining off metal, for example, or have other
obsessive behaviors. The more attention you pay to all behavioral
clues as well as food and environment clues, the better picture you
will have as to what may or may not be causing her problems. Just
taking one behavior and not knowing the dog, no one on the group is
going to be able to give you an answer.

One of my dogs appears obsessive about chewies, for example. If she
has one, she MUST chew on it until it is completely gone, no matter
how big it is or how long that takes. She doesn't have any other
behaviors like that, though, so I don't think it is OCD as much as a
great love of rawhide that rivals my love of chocolate ice cream.
