Default Food & Fancy

After being thoroughly convinced that I'm the cause of Fancy's weight gain,
despite increasing her exercise, I went food shopping today. I'm lucky with
Fancy in that she can switch foods rather easily and without stomach upset.
I'm unlucky in that she's annoyingly picky and has no problems going off
food if its one she doesn't like (hey, there's a good diet plan!).

I got sample packs of Merrick's Wilderness Blend so I tried it out at home.
She started *offering* me behaviors for a few pieces of this kibble after
letting her try some initially. Too bad my camcorder battery is long dead
because that was definitely film-worthy.

I've done some online research and haven't found much outside of some bully
forum posts recommending it and the manufacturer's marketing. Its marketed
as a holistic food but that's not why I chose it. I was basically a sucker
for yummy sounding packaging and a much lower calorie per cup.

The calories per cup are 352 compared to the 537 of Evo, 360 of Beneful and
340 of Wellness Senior (she liked that enough to attempt to steal it from
Pebbles as that's what I was feeding her back then). So its much better
than the Evo caloriewise and in line with other foods Fancy has regularly
eaten. The carbs are a bit high at 52% but I don't think the numbers are
bad in general...from what I've been learning.

It obviously tastes great and the company scores some points with me for
their donations to area shelters. Here's the website if anyone more
knowledgable than myself wants to check it out. Please feel free to smack
me with any glaringly bad things before I become a slave to this food for
the behavioral effects it has on Fancy!
