It's sort of disturbing, I must say.

They're great doggies. male border collie, and female cattle dog. Both are
fixed.

They lay there playing together, and one will start licking the others'
face, and it sometimes turns into an extended deep mouth licking/french
kissing session.

ugh! Should I discourage it, and separate them temporarily?

Nah, dogs do that. I doubt there's any passion involved.

My chihuahuas also get into extended ear-frenching sessions
(although I have to say that until I read your post I only
thought of it as "ear reaming"), along with face-licking and
eye-licking.
