What a lovely puppy he's turning out to be!

Hammie is growing up - he has lost that puppy softness, but not the
goofies. In the field, he's delightful. One FCR lady in our area
keeps threatening to kidnap him after training sessions.

(I suppose you enter a rarified world at some point. We had friends
from the hunt test circuit over for dinner the other night. They
brought wine, dessert, and a frozen duck in a bag, and weren't the
slightest bit put out when I asked whether this duck was for eating or
for flinging around in a marsh. Flinging, by the way.)

This weekend, though, we did field training on Saturday (swimming
across a channel and then running up a bank for the bird) and then I
fluffed him up and took him to his breeder for his first round of
conformation handling training.

We actually got him to stack himself, sort of. Gaiting was a bit of a
challenge, though. He's kind of bouncy. My 8-y-o daugher got her
first handling lesson too, although she is handling the breeder's 6-y-o
matron, a dignified lady. Hamish and DD will both come out for the
first time at the Christmas shows in Vancouver (but not together!)

What a nice puppy. He's going to be a real stunner. I love his front and
he looks very balanced. You're going to have a great time with him.

No kidding!! He's a real looker, I bet you're having all sorts of fun with
that handsome boy. :-)

I am going to have to try & get some stacked photos of Dharma online. She
is just a week over 3 mos. now, and is learning to stack herself. Of
course, she is just barely learning to hold still for more than a few
seconds!
We had our weekend of big firsts last weekend, she had her 1st conformation
match. We just went for fun, she wound up beating about 20 bitch puppies
to take first place in the 3-6 mos. old class. I was pleasantly surprised,
she behaved herself well, and gaited around the ring beautifully. She has
a very lovely side-gait, and looks equally as nice going away. I need
someone to video, since I can't see her coming-to movement. She's just
such a pretty thing, I am so happy to have her!

Then Sunday we went to a NADAC trial and she took it all in stride, no fear,
playful and greeted everyone with inquisitive glee; "Have you Cookies??"
An agility trial is a good test for a puppy, with all of the noise, crowd &
barking.

Coda loveloveloves her to pieces, Bodhi now thinks that she is a super-neat
playmate, and my husband has fallen hard for her pretty girl charms. I
am really, really hoping to attend the Abbotsford show in February...might
you be going??

All is well in the world.
Shelly w/ Bodhi, Coda & D-girl (who thinks she's a FCR...LOVES the rain &
mud!)

Wow! Your kitchen is CLEAN! Your puppy is handsome too, but a kitchen
that clean owned by a dog person, I am impressed.

I wish I could take credit for that, but the kitchen belongs to the breeder.
How *she* keeps it clean with three flatties (+guests), I'll never tell you.

Dharma sounds (and looks) lovely!

I'll pencil the Abbotsford shows in - it will depend on kid obligations and
whether Hamish is looking like a total geek around then.

I have first-hand experience to confirm the above. She's a hoot! I
don't know much about all that fancy-pants conformation stuff, but she
is absurdly cute. Grace thought she was waaaay fun as well.
