vaginal episioplasty
what do you think about a young 4 yr old belgian sheepdog female who has
been getting recurrent vaginal infections? vet says she has a hypoplastic vagina and needs this episioplasty to move it so she does not get infections--this i found online: Vulvar Hypoplasia / Infantile Vulva (recessed vulva, vulvar inversion) may be more common in dogs that are spayed at an early age, but not proven. Has also been described in intact females. Obesity may also be a factor. Signs vulva is hidden into folds of adjacent skin, perivulvar dermatitis. Has also been associated with chronic urinary tract infections, urinary incontinence, and vaginitis. Treatment weight loss is indicated if the animal is obese. local cleaning of the skin. episioplasty - crescent shaped bilateral piece of skin removed dorsal and lateral to vulva. remove underlying fat. close subcutaneous tissue and skin. |
