Default Need Poodle help!

I have a friend who is desperately trying to get a poodle, or even a
poodle mix. She would prefer to adopt, but in her area all the small dogs
are getting snapped up before she can get down to the shelters on the
weekend. I'm hooking her up with the breed clubs to find a good breeder
if it comes to that. She's in the triangle area of NC. Anyone have any
advice or tips for breeders/shelters/etc in this area? She has a child,
so generally she can't make it to any place during the week since she
works and needs to pick her child up and get dinner ready, and her husband
comes home even later. Which makes adopting an adult a better prospect
than a puppy.

We've looked. Generally, they go to look at a dog, go home to discuss it
to make sure it's ok to everyone, and they call and it's been adopted by
someone who took it on the spot. It's been abnormally frustrating and
difficult for them to find one. They were close to buying a mix from
the newspaper, and they've been looking for months. It doesn't help that
their yard is not fenced, but there are dog parks everywhere so the dog
will get its excersize along with walks. So, some rescues have said no
for that reason. They own their own house.
