German Shepherds: Why do trained police GSD pull at the leash?
All the videos and photos I've seen of police or military German
Shepherds show them pulling at the leash, restrained from attacking suspect, prisoner, etc. All the articles and books I've read about training dogs states that a well-trained dog will never tug on the leash, especially after being given the command to heel or halt. So are these police dogs supposed to be doing this, as an intimidating factor, and therefore are NOT trained to stop pulling at the leash? |
