How effective are 'alternative' treatments for arthritis in dogs - I'm
thinking of, for example, Acupuncture or Hydrotherapy.
Naturally they avoid the slight risks of drugs like Rimadyl, but are
they as effective when they work? Thanks

First, I'm new here, and have been looking at different
dog discussion groups to join. I have a 6 year old yorkshire
terrier. So far she's been fairly healthy, if we feed her the
right foods, small dog that she is her digestive system is
pretty sensitive. The question about arthritis caught my eye
as joint conditions are common with yorkies. I give her
the Royal Canin for Yorkshire Terriers - it contains glucosamine
and chondroitin, Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. There
are only two of the Royal Canin mini foods that contain these
nutrient, the other is the Mature brand for other smaller dogs
over the age of 8. She does very well on this food, I notice
a difference if I try to wean her over to other foods. You can
meet Aspen at a page we had some fun putting together
at http://happynutritionist.com/yorkie.html :-)
