Default How to make a flyball machine?

Is there someone who knows how to build your own flyball machine?
Maybe someone has a nice drawing.
Greetings,
Bart

There's a yahoo email list which has archived plans for building
various pieces of agility equipment. Maybe there's something
similar for flyball, though a flyball box is not really a do-it-
yourself project for a lot of people.

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/
and search on "flyball", "equipment", "plans", "box", and all
their combinations.

FWIW, I just googled on "flyball equipment plans" and found
this:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/R...19/boxplan.htm

No matter what plans you find, though, you should make sure that
they conform to the specs of your local organisation - there's
no point in training on a box which may be quite different from
a competition version.

I have a german description for a flyballbox, which is not one of those
"backyard boxes" with a "tiny piece of wood" to step on.

Those kinds of catapults are not good from a ergonomic view and they are
not really safe. The dog has to perfom a full stop and to restart. Some of
those boxes are pretty dangerous to beginners, as dogs tend to grab the
ball directly from within the box, means from the catapult (sometimes it's
a bad *ouch*). The really "good and safe" flyballboxes I found (to buy),
were mostly made in Canada and they are not inexpensive :-).

The link posted by Rocky shows a much better version. However, I had some
problems translating this to german. Especially the material list and I
also were not eager to recalculate all inches to centimeters ;-).

If you would like to have a copy of the german manual (many pictures), just
drop me an email.

Bye
Marion

There is a person in Germany that makes them. That'd be the closest that I
know of to you... Let me know if you are interested.

I agree with the others - unless you know what you are doing, building your
own flyball box can cause injury to a dog. You can build a turning board,
which has no moving parts, quite easily, but a box is entirely different.
