Another Potty Training Question
I have a two year old toy poodle who was potty trained until the
neighbor got a big dog next door. Now "Sam" goes outside when I take him out, but in the house as well. I also have an older 8 year old poodle who has no problems. Sam often follows my older dog and will go in the same spot outside. However Sam is going inside now as well. How do I retrain Sam? I think crate training might not be a good idea if he's sitting in a crate while my older dog is free to roam around the house. I live in a condo so there really isn't too many options outside as far as relocating their area to relieve themselves. I take them both out only when the neighbor's big dog is not around because I don't want Sam to feel scared. I've read some of the other threads about potty training and I have been following through on the basics. 1. Diligently watching him. 2. Being consistent. 3.Keeping to a schedule. 4.Saying "No" during the act, but not after (not to confuse him). I just don't know what to do because of the neighbor's dog and if there is anything I should be doing differently because I have another trained dog in the home. |
