Default Jack Russell and Lab Puppy

I have a ten year old Jack Russell. She doesn't seem to like any other
dogs. Maybe some males.
My son is bringing his new Chocolate Lab puppy for a visit. How can I
make sure that my dog doesn't attack him?

I'm worried about him chewing my new furniture also.

HELP!

that's kind of a breed trait. they can get along, but you have to enforce
the boundaries, and don't get lazy and think that they've been set once and
all is well. you have to keep an eye on them and reenforce boundaries as
needed.

all i know about labs is that they get bigger and have more energy then i
want to deal with, but we wound up adopting a jrt who then needed to be
introduced to our 2 poms... She nearly killed one of them that first night.
(ok, i slightly exaggerate, but she did leave some nasty wounds all over our
little Pepe, and if we hadn't pried them apart immediately, she would have
been much worse off) it took us a few days to get the boundaries
established, and Willow is constantly trying to push those boundaries and we
have to keep a constant eye on her, especially with Pepe... not so much with
Rocky, our 9 yr old male pom, as he's getting old and grumpy and just stays
out of the way when she gets rambuncious... but we still occasionally have
to seperate Willow and Pepe (Pepe was Queen of the house, thinks she still
is, but Willow is a definate Alpha and the 2 get very jealous of each
other...)

no promises there.. intoduce them outside in a neutral area and see how they
react to each other. keep an eye on them. elderly dogs don't always like
younger energetic pups anyway. keep leashes on hand at all times to keep
them seperated if needed. with any luck, they'll work things out quickly
