Default What room temp for bitch with new litter?

I have a Russian Black Terrier of 2 years with a 2 day old litter, what
room temperature should I keep her and her litter in, she is feeding and
caring for the 8 pups well, but seems hot in the 70 degree Fahreheit temp I
have the room at, she's used to living outdoors, here in the UK. She's in a
large wooden whelping crate lying on Vetbed, an imitation fleece product.

Hi Chris:

Right now you need to be more concerned with how the temperature affects the
puppies as opposed to the mother. Newborn puppies cannot regulate their
body temperature, but as long as the minimum temperature in the room is 70
and there are no drafts, they should be fine. Puppies will tell you by
huddling if they feel too cool, and by spreading out away from one another
if they are too warm. I have used a heat lamp in the past hung about three
feet above the whelping box, making sure it only exposes about 30% of the
whelping box to the heat. Puppies will move towards the source of heat if
they are too cool and away if they are comfortable.
