Default Looking for Sheltie to rescue

I live in the Montreal area. A friend of mine is looking over for a
sheltie to rescue. She does not want a puppy. She would *prefer* a
blue merle male but is willing to take practically any
sheltie. Rescue groups have apparently no shelties in distress. Now,
this is certainly good news but my friend still wants to adopt one.

If anyone has a lead...

Just covering the obvious, your friend has probably contacted
Shetland Sheepdog Rescue, specifically

It pays to have patience. Summer is often a booming time for rescue, as are
the holidays - seems like folks need to dump their dogs so they can go on
vacation. At the Sheltie rescue I work with, we can go a long time without
any new arrivals, and then get a dozen. If your friend has applied with the
local Sheltie rescue, they should keep her application on file so that if an
appropriate dog comes along they will contact her. The more flexible she is
in her preferences, the better - I always suggest that folks loosen their
"requirements" in order to meet more dogs - color, size, sex, etc. Sometimes
the right dog comes in a different package than the one the adopter
envisions, so make sure the rescue knows she isn't firm on those
preferences.

The writing is suspiciously similar except for the bit about daughters...
