Elegy, I appreciate you taking the time to post. No, I do not know what
triggered the fights. I am beginning to think you may (and some others)
that have posted may be right, that it is just Jubal Early reaching
maturity doing what some Pit Bull mixes do. Buck (my old lab) would
give Jubal "the look" like don't touch me and don't come near me. I
took it as fear based not aggressive. Perhaps Jubal just saw his chance
and made his move? Jubal E and Lady (my old Border Collie mix) are
tight and always have been. He and Buck were status quo. They would
play together but not really hang out. Jubal and Lady lay together all
the time.
Jack, I thank you again for your input I thought that was the point of
this forum. I totally agree a behavior specialist is worth a try. She
is on the way. I have retained a local Dog Whisperer. What exactly
makes me a novice and what exactly does it take for me or anyone to be
an authority on Pit Bulls or any other breed? I am really curious. I
thought your statement was kind of broad. Forgive me for being
personal, are Pit Bulls your breed of choice? What breeds do you have
or are an authority in? Just being nosey...feel free to ignore my
inquiry.. I put a CDX on 2 Dobes and a St Bernard back in the day when
Dobes were the fad dog and scourge of the earth. I may be blind to my
situation (temporarily) because my heart is broken, that is why I came
here but just because I own two old abandoned dogs does not mean I am a
novice.

What did I say that made you think otherwise?

What exactly
makes me a novice and what exactly does it take for me or anyone to be
an authority on Pit Bulls or any other breed? I am really curious. I
thought your statement was kind of broad.

I'm sorry. I probably wasn't as clear as I should have been.

I should have said that you appeared to be a novice with pit bulls,
not with dogs in general.

Forgive me for being
personal, are Pit Bulls your breed of choice?

I looooove pit bulls, and I've rehabilitated quite a few of them in my
work with various rescue and/or shelter organizations.

There are no breeds that I enjoy working with more, even my own (see
below).

I've also adopted a few pit bulls myself, when I couldn't find them
suitable homes.

But Labs and Chessies are my breeds of choice, because I breed and
train field-trial and hunting dogs.

What breeds do you have
or are an authority in?

I'm certainly no authority on all of the breeds, but I'm very familiar
with the breeds that one normally comes across in all-breed rescue
work. At any one time, there are usually 5-6 rescue or shelter dogs
here being rehabilitated. Each might stay here for up to 60 days or
so, before being placed in a suitable home.

Just being nosey...feel free to ignore my
inquiry..

Nah, being nosey about who to take advice from is a "good thing" in my
book.

Just don't ask me where my tattoos are located. That's going too far.

I may be blind to my
situation (temporarily) because my heart is broken,

That's pretty much the way I see it, too, Judy.

But broken hearts mend.

I think you should make this decision with your head, not with your
heart.

Anyway, good luck with whatever decision you do make!
