Default Spring Spaniel Tooth Problem

I have an English Springer Spaniel which I have noticed today that one of
his main teeth in the bottom set is chipped off? He hasn't showed any sign
of it hurting and still eats everything and drinks fine and there appears to
be no sign of infection or anything like the such? Does people think this
is normal and cos it's not hurting just monitor the situation or go for the
full extraction of the tooth via the vets?

Thanks in advance

This last is the immediate concern.

The big immediate concern is infection/abcess. Watch the tooth and the
adjacent gums like a hawk. Any sign of infection, get the dawg to a
good vet.

Did he/she just chip a bit off the top of the tooth? If the rest of
the tooth is whole (not split) and there's no infection/swelling, etc
etc just keep an eye on it and get the vet's opinion when you visit
him. But you gotta look closely. Any doubt, get the vet's opinion.

I was a Springer person from '84 to '96. Still have fond memories.

My Brittany broke (split) 2 teeth when she was a tiny puppy. Vet
removed one, the other still functions.

Best,
Puddin'

Thanks for that I've taken him to the vets and he has to get it removed so
thanks for your help. Hopefully he will get used to having a tooth missing.

Thanks again

If it's the first tooth to lose, I doubt he'll have
much trouble.

Did you glean an idea of how he chipped it? Watch him
whenever possible, try to discourage tooth-destructive
behavior. The more they lose, the more they need to
keep what they got.

Best O' Luck,
