My dog is in pain : (
almost two weeks ago my dog began to show signs that he was having
pain in his neck. he could not lower his head to eat or turn to the left without yelping. he limps a bit and his left leg is shaky and weak. he is a beautiful chocolate lab and we love him as if he were our child. his pain became worse so we took him to the vet. the vet put him on tramadol but that did not seem to help. we took him back and the vet took x-rays and put him on a fentynal patch and rimadyl, as well as the tramadol. his pain has subsided and he can at least get some rest (as can we). but he is by no means back to normal. my vet said that she could not tell from the x-ray what was going on with him so she suggested we see a neurologist and possibly have an MRI. we saw the neuro. today and we have the MRI scheduled for tomorrow. I am sooooo scared and worried. it is so sad to see him in pain. has anyone had anything like this happen to their dog or are their any vets out their with any theories on this? I would greatly appreciate some thoughts. thank you! wag more, bark less! |

In the meantime I hope you can both get some rest tonight. Hang in there. Amy Dahl |

I'm not sure where you are located, but I have a friend that is a certified
canine massage therapist. That may be an avenue you want to pursue. Giving information or opinions without seeing the dog is always somewhat speculative, and I think that for you, giving any information about dogs is always highly speculative. In this case, however, I doubt that the dog's age is going to be more enlightening than MRI results and a neurologist's opinion. Mustang Sally |
