Default Golden Retriever Puppy Size

How big should an average 10 week old golden retriever puppy be? I have a 10 week old female golden and our neighbors have a ten week old male lab. The lab is twice the size of our golden.

Is the Golden Retriever from show lines, field lines or no particular
lines? The lines are fairly different in body structure and build. The
same is true for Labrador Retrievers. The expected "average" size for
each will depend heavily on their lineage. What is "correct" for each
breed depends on whether the goal is the conformation ring or the field.

I would expect a 10 week old show line bitch puppy to weigh somewhere
in the 15# range.

==========
I have seen huge labs lately; I don't think they are actually supposed to be
that huge, but they all over the ball park now in size. They look best to
me when medium size and blocky,

Most of the Lab puppies I get these days are mooses. The
Goldens are more of a mixed bag - some blocky ones, some
lightly built ones.

In agility, I'm seeing the opposite - very large GRs (many too
heavy) and sleek Labs. In my dog daycare, I'm seeing what you
see.

Interesting. I'd expect to see lean dogs in agility. Maybe GR show
people are trying to title in other venues, and have their blonde-Newf
looking dogs in agility for that reason, rather than the more
performance/less conformation of some lab owners?

In field training, they're all lean. I love watching dogs in the
field - the light in their eyes and the enthusiasm in every stride.
