Default Cocker spaniel question

When I was growing up we had a cocker spaniel. It seemed that when my
mother cooked lamb, the dog would start to shake and get real nervous.
I have always wondered why. I know he hated thunderstorms, and thought
maybe the first time my mom made there was a storm. Would he associate
something real upsetting to the lamb? At first I thought maybe the
smell of it just upset him.

Thanks

Tom

Default Cocker spaniel question

Whenever I think about issues of association I look into all aspects of
the scenario. Have some questions on the issue before I make a
judgement...

1) did the dog eat the lamb
2) did the dog steal any lamb in the past
3) did the dog cower to anything else or only lamb and thunderstorms

One off associations is extremely rare and more than often misread. I
would say it was a long shot that this occured. Think there is probably
more to the story with lamb than might be known.
