Old breed pics
For anyone interested in historical pics or how breeds have changed,
I've put several pages online: http://www.messybeast.com/history/1800dogs.htm - dog breeds from the 1800s (taxidermy at Tring, has some breeds ancestral to modern breeds) http://www.messybeast.com/history/bulldogs.htm - changing face of the bulldog (taxidermy at Tring) http://www.messybeast.com/history/1923dogs.htm - dog breeds from the early 1900s (old photos) http://www.messybeast.com/history/dogcarts.htm - dog-drawn carts in the 1800s/1900s The miniature "lapdogs" at Tring really are hamster-sized, but I strongly suspect they are juveniles mounted to look like adults, as was the trend in the 1860s. The 1900s old photos show poodles with the Komondor-style corded coat fashionable at the time. |
