Oh Sandy!
I just found this one, too, and I'm repling to it here because it's
easier for me to do that here. I HATE AOL. Oldhandsomejack wrote: Regarding Janet, again. What she did was to offer FREE training to Paul, in an attempt to save Muttley's life. Anyone else here do that? yes, several. Someone at CBB offered to help Paul and Muttley for FREE? Who? I've even been known to give free privates to help a rescue No, I'm talking about for Paul and Muttley. Proving again that no good deed goes unpunished. I don't know how many classes you've ever given, but whenever dogs are involved, and I don't care how deeply you check into the dog and the owner's background, there's the chance for fracases to break out. Anyone who has never had a dog fracas has probably never conducted many classes. **** happens. It happened in one of Janet's classes. It'll happen in one of yours someday, too. That's a fact. Dogs are dogs and humans are humans. Yes, **** happens. It seems that **** happens fairly often in Janet's class. I hate to jinx myself. But I will say that in close to 30 years I've not had a dog injured in my classes, and the only human to take a bite was me (once) Some of that was dumb luck, but I try to learn from every problem situation that arises. So I can handle it differently, better, the next time. If it happens on my watch, its my responsibility. If a person isn't up to handling a certain situation and I insist that they belong there, that's my bad judgement call. I do think a person who is good at reading dogs is likely to not have to wait until the dog explodes to recognize there is a problem. Or put the dog in a less challenging situation until he and his owner learn to handle things with more skill. Several things. When *you* screwed up, did you have what seems like a thousand loony banshees scream at you and call you unspeakable names in a public forum? Do you think Janet hasn't learned something from this mess, too? For example, that no good deed goes unpunished? When I used to teach newbies, I had fracases break out from time to time. Dogs were bitten, but no real damage was ever done. Invariably, the fracas broke out because someone stopped paying attention to his dog. I don't have eyes in the back of my head, nor do my assistants. **** happens. The only way to be 100% certain that **** won't happen in a class is to not have any dogs show up. Now I teach other pros how to use the e-collar. Guess what? Fracases still break out from time to time. These are usually hard-charging and intact dogs, and they do what hard-charging intact dogs often do when they're in each other's close proximity - they sometimes take a whack at another dog. BFD. We break it up and then move on. That's what folks should do here, too. Move on. Again, I'll be over at rec.pets.dogs.behavior if you want to discuss CM, Hassen, et al. Thanks for a civil discussion! Obviously the people on rec pets don't share your appreciation of civil discussion. You mean like the nice folks at CBB do? Anyway, if you want to discuss CM, Hassen, et al, just let me know. I'll even ask the folks here to stay out of it. I can't promise that they will, but you might be pleasantly surprised. -- Handsome Jack Morrison |

Well, if you are going to read on AOL, don't you think it would be less confusing to ANSWER it there? Instead of dragging posts off another format to talk about here? I don't know though, I suspect most of the people on the CBB will be happy if you do give up trying to answer posts therem but.it might make one think you are just dragging them over here to fuel hysteria and to keep in front of an audience that accepts you So far, I haven't posted any of your stuff from here to the CBB in order to answer it in front of my homies, although I find this format unfamiliar. I answer posts to the CBB on that board. I answer posts to this list here. anything else would be silly. Sandy in OK |

Try as I might, I just couldn't find a similar reply from you to her over there. Perhaps you can point it out for me. Tara |

Perhaps you can point it out for me. It's not that unusual for someone to discuss something they saw on another board, group or list. What is really weird is for someone to say "I found this on (insert board or list name) but I brought it here to reply to it because I don't want to say it in front of the people there, or I am too stupid to use that format" I just haven't seen Ronna take a post from this group and post it over there to answer it. Did you? Possibly I missed it. Sandy in OK |

Perhaps you could take responsibility for stopping it. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - The Free Enterprise Action Fund, a GOP mutual fund, is underperforming the S&P 500 by about 40%. |

Well, if you are going to read on AOL, don't you think it would be less confusing to ANSWER it there? Less confusing to whom? *I* can't make sense out of most replies that I see over at CBB. The format is absolutely horrible. To reply in any meaningful way, I have to cut and paste, cut and paste, cut and paste, until the cows come home, and I HATE HAVING TO DO THAT. Yes, I'm spoiled by Usenet and Agent. I can see why most CBBers stick to writing things like ROFLMAO!!!! and LOL!!!!! and HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! because it's the only thing that's easy to do over there. Again, to construct a meaningful reply to anyone at CBB is an exercise in futility. Instead of dragging posts off another format to talk about here? I dragged it here because you were already here, and *my* job would be made easier by bringing it over here. I'm interested in making *my* job easier. Yours? Not so much. You had to do all that cut and pasting yourself, just to reply to my post. Think of it as helping to make your job easier, too. I don't know though, I suspect most of the people on the CBB will be happy I don't give a **** about "the people" on CBB. I care about having a decent, cordial discussion with you. That's easier to do here, where in spite of our own shortcomings, people here will generally cooperate in that fashion, and you definitely won't have to contend with all the clutter that one has to deal with over at CBB. if you do give up trying to answer posts therem but.it might make one think you are just dragging them over here to fuel hysteria and to keep in front of an audience that accepts you So far, I'm not dragging them here because I'm worried about hysteria over there. CBB seems hysterical enough without any help from me. I'm interested in discussions. Not hysteria. I haven't posted any of your stuff from here to the CBB in order to answer it in front of my homies, I don't care what you post over there. Feel free to post anything you want at CBB. although I find this format unfamiliar. It may seem unfamiliar to you, but it's a far better format than what CBB has to offer. Besides, you're posting through Google, which leaves much to be desired. It would behoove you to get yourself a decent newsreader (Agent, Xnews, etc.) and see what you're missing. I'd be happy to help you get started, too. I answer posts to the CBB on that board. I'm done with CBB, at least for the time being. I made my point over there, and now I'm back over here. And everyone over there is certainly welcome to come over here. Yes, I'll help them get started, too. I answer posts to this list here. anything else would be silly. Well, I make my own rules, too. And *I* prefer the format of Usenet and a decent newsreader than to AOL and a childish, cartoonish format. YMMV. -- Handsome Jack Morrison |
