After doing some internet research on this phrase, I'm compelled to ask:
What is "resource guarding"? And whose resources is the dog guarding? -- Bob http://www.kanyak.com |

Resource guarding
"Opinicus" wrote in message: What is "resource guarding"? In simple terms, the dog guards what it considers to be a valuable resource. And whose resources is the dog guarding? They guard what they perceive to be something valuable, to them. It could be anything from a bone, used tissue, or the couch to a human. Suja |

Resource guarding
"Opinicus" wrote in message ... After doing some internet research on this phrase, I'm compelled to ask: What is "resource guarding"? Exactly what it sounds like. It refers to guarding/protecting, and/or being overly possessive of, something the dog considers of value. That can be a toy, a bone, a good sleeping place, food, a human's attention, another dog... you name it. And whose resources is the dog guarding? His or her own. |

Hence the fight over the other dog's bone.
