Default Introducing dogs

I'm bringing home my 4 and a half year old shiba inu for X-mas. My
mother has a 1 year old English Bulldog who is NOT trained at all. He's
a monster! My shiba is very well behaved, but tends to want to be the
alpha when intoduced to other dogs. I smell a disaster coming and have
no idea how to prevent it (short of skipping the holidays!)
