Default I Hate People - Reason # Three Hundred and Eleventy Gazillion

There was a new person at the park yesterday with a 5 month old Husky puppy.
They got there before we did, and near as I could tell, she only stopped
running and wrestling long enough to take a sip of water or two. She seemed
quite nice, not exactly well behaved, but quite fearless and very, very high
octane. The owner was hanging around with a regular who has 2 Huskies.

I talked with the regular today. The owner bought this pup at 8 weeks,
right after her grandmother died, with no research. After having lived with
the pup for 3 months, she actually asked if Huskies shed much. She works as
a night nurse, and the puppy is crated daily from 7 PM to 7 AM, and
sometimes as long as 14 hours at a stretch. The owner is all upset with the
pup, because the pup makes a racket in the crate at night, and the
housemates are complaining. The owner is all upset with the pup, because
she's exhausted when she comes back from work, and wants the pup to just
chill out with her, but the puppy is acting like a maniac, wanting to play.
She feeds the pup, takes her out for a quick walk, and puts her back in the
crate, so she can get some sleep. All told, the puppy is being crated
something like 20 hours a day. By some great wonder that I can't wrap my
brain around, the puppy has actually managed to potty train herself,
however. This lady has done nothing towards training the dog, and appears
to have no intention of ever training the dog.

The regular has offered to watch the pup for her when she's at work. I
really hope she takes her up on it.
