I know it might sound silly to you, but have you tried dancing with dogs
with Solo? He might really like it -- you would keep changing the moves,
and he would be interacting with you a lot -- it might be right up his
alley.

I think this an awesome idea.

a) its creative, and Melanie can make it as interesting for Solo as she has
to

b) it would totaly crack me up that she has to cha-cha with her dog
(hey, if I have to dress mine up, she should have to do *something*
ridiculous)

But I suspect that even if *you* were the cheerleader metalhead, Solo would
have been lighting black candles and listening to the Cure.

Solo knows some freestyle moves. He'll weave in and out of my legs
and turn either toward or away from me and jump over my knee and
stuff. I have never though been able to bring myself to do actual
freestyle with him. Freestyle looks so... nerdy.

Of course it is. But then the thing I'm finding freeing about turning 40
this year is that looking nerdy is no longer a big deal. Hmmmm, and I've
got the perfect freestyle dog. Maybe I was talking to myself.

OMG!!! Teach Solo to reinact the head thrash scene from Wayne's World.

Freestyle to Bohemian Rhapsody would be nerdy and funny as hell at the same
time.

I might just pay Melanie money to do this, as long as there was video.

I take it you've never seen Attila Szkukalek & his Fly doing their
"Gladiator" and "Charlie Chaplin" routines? Definitely not "ballroom dancing
crap" - among other things, the "Gladiator" routine incorporates modified
bitework - even if occasionally a bit hokey.

He could be the lyrical dancer of the show, with all the emotion poured
into dancing to something like Starry Starry Night in honor of tortured
artistic types.

I've seen him -- you're right, they're amazing, and impressive, and
fast, and fun...

... but...

He's wearing a gladiator outfit. And the dog wears a matching collar.

I just can't.

I forgot to reply to this when it came up, but:

On this one, I have to go with the "But he's wearing...."

In fact, it took me several moments to even realize there was a dog
involved.

BUT, I am now determined to eventually come up with the first ever
Freestyle Dance routine that is not completely retarded (sorry folks).
I've only come up with the roughest of ideas....the basis of which
follows these basic rules:
1) Thou shalt not try to do an interpretive dance to the lyrics of the
song
2) thou shalt not over-act
3) thou shalt not dress like a total dork.

I'm sure I'll come up with more, but that's my starting point. Look for
the unveiling in a couple of years.
