she needs to run and work.

Do you have a conditioning program, or is random?

i used to do a fair bit of directed jumping with
her, but i've stopped that since the knee problem, which is a huge
bummer, because it is something she enjoys and i enjoy.

Does she swim? That'd be a great way to get her all the exercise she wants,
with none of the bad side effects. Don't know how hard it would be to do
this, but would it be possible to set something up so that she gets to run
on, through, and under stuff, something like children's play equipment or
maybe something like a maze? You can change it out fairly easily, so she
would still have to figure her way out. And if she enjoys using her nose, a
little tracking work might be a good way to burn up those brain cells.

I think it's a fabulous idea. Soft tissue injuries can take
forever (months - more months than you'd think) to heal. It
might be worthwhile to track down an orthopedic or dog
sports specialist.

no, nothing formal.

Get yourself a copy of Chris Zink's Coaching the Canine Athlete. I
think a conditioning program would be a good approach to take.
