Default Tripod Heeler/Catahoula/Border Collie? Mix Needs Help

Hopalong Cassidy was picked up running free by Animal Control. He was
missing a foot, and we have no idea if it was due to amputation, cruelty, or
a trap of some sort. All we know is that he keeps trying to use the stub
for support and it's getting infected. The vet recommends a full amputation
of the limb. He's a very sweet white with black spots boy that weighs about
35 pounds and has the most gorgeous mischievous brown eyes. He's a young
2ish years old and has a great personality. You can view a pic here of
Cassidy here.

We have an angel who's stepped forward to pay for his surgery, (so he won't
be immediately euthanized when his quarrantine period is up) but he is still
in a shelter situation. He needs foster care to be able to recover from the
surgery, (scheduled for Tuesday, August the19th, when he will also be
neutered) and he also is looking for a forever home. Our shelter is located
in the Memphis metro area. We do as good a job as we can working out of a
city shelter, but our resources are limited, and ultimately we have to face
the fact that as a kill shelter, overcrowding means that the less healthy
dogs are nearer the top of the list. He's been registered with the
Disabeled Pet Network, and I'd appreciate anyone who has any other links or
networks to pass this along. I'd really like to find a rescue that could
take him in and find him a home.

You can contact our shelter at 662-895-5328 or e-mail us at
