Balto is kind of a weird name for a bully-type dog, anyway.
Balto was running lead on Gunnar Kaasen's team when they
delivered the diphtheria medicine to Nome. He's a famous
sleddog - Disney made a film about him, there's a statue of
him in Central Park in NYC, and I think his stuffed body is
in a museum somewhere. Picture of him at

Maybe your Balto was named "Balto" for some other reason but
there's an association with sleddogs that you probably don't
want, anyway.

But congratulations no matter what his name ends up being.
