i am generally very bad at being patient, which is not good in this
situation. i know i need to be slow and patient.

things have been pretty good. i've screwed up and let some snarkfests
break out between luce and homer, but they've been noise and no teeth.
still, i know that it's because i'm taking things too quickly and i
need to slow down.

homer's good. he's happy in his crate. he likes his bone. he's quiet.
he's scared of the steps to the deck and i have to carry him up them
because i'm sorry but it's too fricken cold to deal with this issue
right now. he's also a really slow and dainty eater, and didn't finish
his breakfast this morning (unheard of in this house).

luce and mushroom just want to PLAYYYYYY and for that i'm very
grateful. they've not been aggressive toward him at all. just rude,
but that's luce. she never had manners installed. all the snarkfests
have been started by him because he gets scared and overwhelmed and
snarlsnaps. totally my fault. at least it's easy to read.

last night i had homer out and was sitting on the floor with him and
luce came over and homer rolled right on his back. i gave him lots and
lots of praise.

today he was out with mushroom and they were kinda playing and
mushroom got too rough and scary and homer went SNARL and mushroom
rolled on his back. i gave mushroom lots and lots of praise.

i am right now really grateful to mushroom for being such a good guy.

i hope i'm doing things right. these dogs, they're fascinating to
watch.

Congratulations on your new addition. I hope things continue to go
well; I'm sure Homer will be very happy living out the rest of his
days with you.
