we have a 3 year old beagle who poops in the house while we're
sleeping. we confine him ion the bathroom at night, most mornings when
I come downstairs he's pooped on the floor. this is the ONLY time he
does this, and he only started doing it about 10 months ago. we've
tried changing his food, and feeding times! we hate having to lock him
in the bathroom, but if we don't he goes on the carpet!

Has any new activity happened in your house, new people living with you that
sort of thing. Changing food can just make to problem worse if you do it to
quickly. Try not feeding past 6 pm and take out no later than ten at night.
If your dog continues this behavior you may want to have him checked out by
a vet. Are all shots up to date has he been wormed and all that. Any time a
well house broken dog changes behavior it is a cause for alarm. Something is
not right and all channels should be checked for yours and your dogs
comfort.
