Diminished Capacity: Can the FDA Assure the Safety and Security of the
Nation's Food Supply?
Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations
9:30 a.m. in room 2123 Rayburn House Office Building

There's a witness list that I can't read due to my antiquated pedal powered
system. Could someone please post it? Pres of Menu Foods has been rumored
to be slated to appear.

Also there's stil time for a phone call or an email to subcommittee (O &
I) members:
http://energycommerce.house.gov/memb...ullmship.shtml

Not as user friendly as the other submittee (Appropriations - Ag) - that one
had clickable links to each member.

Or at least contact the Main commission using Contact US button.

live blogging the hearings - probably at PetConnection if you can't get
connected.

And don't forget to call people! The subcommittee members mentioned
receiving letters/calls/etc. last time. You can call too Matt - Henderson's

Typed up quickly - couldn't get it out as text from the file, so
please forgive the typos.

Panel III should be very, um, interesting...

...........yeah, my Adobe's out of date and doesn't like new ColorSpaces!

I've called 3 congress people so far and Dingell is the only one asking
names - please at least call his office! The rest didn't seem to give a
twit!
Dingell 202-225-4071
Chair Stupac 202-225-4735
Vice Chair Charlie Melacon 202-225-4031
Ed Whitfield - ranking member 202-225-3115
I wonder who the first 3 witnesses are? Peanut butter or spinach eaters or
people with dead pets?

Whitfield took my address, DeGette from CO will be there and whoever
answered the phone actually went back to her office to verify that.

........And now I feel like I'm about ready to scream! If you're not a
constituent some of them can't figure out why you're calling. Although Rep
Jan Schakowsky (D) of IL wrote to the head of the FDA on March 28 about the
pet food recall, her phone person did not know anything about the hearing
nor if she would be attending, did not bother to find out and wanted to know
exactly who I was. Well, I am a citizen of the US, I do not happen to have
a congressional representative from my state on your committee, but AFAIC
this subcommittee represents ALL of the US as food safety is a serious
issue! Schakowsky seems to be a go getter, but she needs to fire her phone
person.
Mike Doyle has another hearing at the same time and they're figuring out how
to be in 2 places at once. They couldn't tell me if Henry Waxman would be
there but graciously took my comment.

.......OK, I'm done, fried, crispy
