http://www.flickr.com/photos/cat-sidh/513558465/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/cat-sidh/513558461/ One of Harriet dead asleep on the couch, with her face all mooshed up, and one of her basking on the patio, with her head resting on top of the chipmunk hole. Alas, I did not get a picture of her with her nose *in* the hole, but I'm sure I will eventually. -- Shelly http://cat-sidh.net (the Mothership) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

Maybe the chipmunk will magically crawl into Harriet's ear! What fun that would be! http://www.flickr.com/photos/cat-sidh/513558465/ very cute picture! Thank you! That's her favorite mellow-out activity in warm months. Thankfully, the complex is set up so that it's easy and reasonable to allow dogs to be tied out on the first floor patios. I looked at a couple of apartments that had zero patio privacy and very little green or open space. Dogs were allowed, but it wouldn't have been a very nice environment for them. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

yay for dogs sleeping in sunbeams. that's one habit i feel i should pick up myself. They know all about the good things in life, don't they? And she's so warm and toasty when she comes back inside, that she requires--requires, I say!--cuddling. Dogs and cats suck the wakefulness right out of you. A sleepy, sun-baked dog or cat just has to look at me and I suddenly need a nap. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

I wouldn't know about dog/sunbeam sleeping. My dogs always seek dark quiet nooks where it's cool. That's how Elliott was. Tile, lino, wood, bath tub, or a shady hole dug in the ground. He could always be counted on to find a nice, cool, quiet spot to sleep. He also wasn't too keen on sleeping in my bed, I think because it was so warm. He'd hop up for the first part of the night, but as soon as I went to sleep, I think he left for the bathroom floor, where it was cooler. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

We have wide windowsills on the (south facing) living room windows, and Peanut loves to sleep up there if anyone is in the living room. Or sometimes just sit and look at the view. A sleepy, sun-baked dog or cat just has to look at me and I suddenly need a nap. Heck, there just has to be a sleepy dog somewhere in the apartment and *I* need one. A friend of mine refers to this as "sleep radiation".
