Isn't there just something a little bit creepy about trying to create
the "ideal" dog? I mean, is this some sort of Aryan thing or
something? What is going on here psychologically?

That's *exactly* what I wonder about people who crosspost.

I wonder when people use the tag dog, if they still mean it,
feel it, or serve it.

To answer your point, its man playing God. Having tamed the
beast to the point nothingness, he shares his folly with
those of like mind. Dogged.

Oh, that's easy. When you crosspost, you get a wider range of
opinions, analyses, and ideas, thereby increasing your chances of
learning something you didn't already know. In a democratic society,
we generally see this as a good thing.

What you mean? Are you using ""ideal"" in a scary quote way or
a quote quote way? If the latter, why did you use quotes at
all?

In a scary quote way -- in the same way it's scary that Nazis tried to
create an "ideal" human race.

That is scary to you, isn't it? Why would one want to do that?

I hope that we can get beyond this, because I'd really like to
address your issue from some sort of common understanding.

So why didn't you crosspost it to comp.unix.wizards?

Anyway, my experience has been that people who crosspost are
usually trying to start a flame war, and those who aren't
trying to start a flamewar are usually solipsistic assholes
who think they're a lot more interesting than they actually
are.

Not sure what you mean.

To answer your point, its man playing God. Having tamed the
beast to the point nothingness, he shares his folly with

Ah, the ultimate outlet control freaks.

Where do you think this desire stems from?

Is that a trick Question? Assuming it's not . . .because that
newsgroup doesn't have anything to do with dogs or philosophy.

So usually, but not always. And yet you seem to have assumed the worst
in this case. Have you considered giving people the benefit of the
doubt, or do you always assume the worst in people?

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

Not Aryan I think. I look at it more like people who try to create the
ideal car, or the ideal lawn, or the ideal house, (or for some, the
ideal body.)

People like to have fine possessions. Here we have a group that got
together and was able to agree on what "fine" means. A dog show isn't
much different than a car show after all.

Should a dog be a possession? That's a whole 'nother question!
