Default Looking for help for our Molly

Our Molly is a fabulous 5yr 10 month old lab/mastif mix......about a month ago she start having some hip problems, and we immediately took her to her doctor..... at that point it was recommended that we start her on a program of 'Oste O-3" twice a day and "Rimadyl" twice a day. After some research we decided to wait on using the rimadyl due to its side effects and try a more holistic therapy with her diet and adding colloidal silver to boost her immune system, and also Sun gold 75% pure yucca...... unfortunately today she took a drastic turn for the worse and was not able to get up ..... at this desparate point we gave her a dose of the rimadyl---- and searching for help for our precious little girl. Any suggestions are so welcome.... and information from anyone that has used rimadyl.

I hope you did not offer Rimadyl that happened to be on hand that was
earlier prescribed. If there have been changes, she needs to see a vet, get
baseline blood panels, and let the vet decide if Rimadyl is still the drug
of choice at this point.

I had a dog with cancer, and internal infections because the poor
circulation of cancer would not allow the antibiotics to be processed as
they should be, and Rimadyl helped hold the pain for a long time. When pain
started breaking through there was other help. Finally, it was time to make
the call.

Molly had a complete 'annual' physical in January----then on May 1, 2007 when she started showing more signs of stiffness in her hips, she went to her dr again, at that point we had the baseline blood panels done again. At that time her vet perscribed the Rimadyl. We let our vet know our concerns about what we had researched concerning Rimadyl... we still got her perscription then (5-01-07) however have tried the holistic path (with her dr's knowledge) till yesterday when she made such a drastic change.

This morning after having her first pill of Rimadyl at 3:30pm yesterday and a night's rest.... she was able to get up---- slowly and with great difficulty, but she got to her feet, ate some breakfast, and went outside for a moment. At this moment she is resting again...

Thank you for your post!

Are Molly's hip problems due to arthritis? Adequan injections
helped two of our dogs who had serious arthritis, gave them a lot
more mobility than they'd had before we started them on the
injections. We started Chile, our 16 year old (next Wednesday)
Chihuahua on them about two years ago. She has arthritis in her
spine, hips and knees, and while she can't jump on and off the
furniture anymore, she still gets short bouts of the zoomies now
and then. It's worth a google and a discussion with your vet.
(I'm hoping it's approved for humans by the time my arthritis
gets bad enough to need it!)

Are you giving her fish oil with omega-3s? That also is supposed
to help with arthritis.

FurPaw (I have no financial interest in Adequan)
