Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD)
Anyone have any experience with the canine version of this problem?
My dog, a 5-year old Pomeranian, Fuzzy, has recently been diagnosed
with this. He has luxating patellae in both of his hind legs, and one
week awhile back I thought they were bothering him because he was
clearly limiting his movements. So I brought him to the orthopedic
specialist who said that his legs weren't any worse than they were 2
years ago when he first saw Fuzzy, and that he thought it might be
Fuzzys back. So I went back to my regular vet who said the same thing
so we took a back xray and there it was. Two-going-on-three discs are
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this. Right now Fuzzy is
on 1/4 deramaxx per day (he's 7 pounds). Most of the time it works,
but some mornings seem to be worse than others.
Back surgery has been mentioned as something that will eventually be
needed. I'm dubious about that. . .
