Default Foot pad separation

Our 2 year old Siberian Husky is very healthy and gets 2 ~1hr walks on
concrete sidewalks every day. Her RR foot has one pad that is "falling off"
but there seems to be a healthy fresh pad underneath. Is this normal?

Some dogs have more sensitive pads than others. One of my dogs tore her
pads off when playing ball while getting her paws very wet (and
therefore soft). There are a few solutions to this kind of problem -
booties, keeping feet dry, walking on softer surfaces, and to toughen
pads, treatment with Tincture of Benzoine.

Thanks,

Hasn't rained here in months, but I'll look up Tincture of Benzoine.

Janet, I've heard of using strong tea to toughen pads, too. The tannic acid
in tea is apparently what does it. Have you heard of this? Is it
effective, or just one of those old wive's tales?

Hmm - I don't know! I do know that daily applications of the TofB
worked really well. I was pretty horrified when it happened - I had
never seen anything like that before! Lucy had her 2nd or 3rd flyball
tournament in only a week and I really needed those pads healed!
