11 mo. Pomeranian not eating.
Hello,
Our 11 mo. female Pom "Sandy" has seemed to have lost her appetite. It has neen 3 days now, and although she did manage to eat a few bites yesterday (chicken beef soft food) and today she ate a 3 small chunks of raw hamburg. Other than that she turns her nose up at anything we put in front of her. Three days ago she ate nothing at all. She usually has a good appetite, although she is a fussy eater. She did go through a similar hunger strike a couple of months ago. She had lost her appetite for 4 or 5 days but then started eating again when we tried her on a brand of food we purchased from a local vet ( at $2.50 a can ). It was a rabbit and potato blend ( I forget the brands name ). She ate this blend for awhile and now and then we gave her another brand when she got fussy, but it wouldn't be long before she'd go for the rabbit blend again. But then a few days ago she stopped eating it. We tried various others but she wasn't interested. Earlier today we were wrapping some hamburg for the freezer and I dropped a small ball of hamburg in front of Sandy. She ate it. I dropped a few more and she ate two but then stopped and wouldn't finish the rest. She'll turn her nose up at anything else we offer. Any suggestions ? Do we need to bring her to a vet ? advTHANKSance Paul |

Once all this is cleared up I'd be more disciplined about feeding. You'll be less likely to run into fussiness, which is a behavioral problem (one which I really, really don't like), and when there's something wrong you'll be able to tell more easily. -- Melinda Shore - Software longa, hardware brevis - Prouder than ever to be a member of the reality-based community |
