Well, Cooper won't be coming to live in PA. The agency contacted me to
say that everything was good except the no fence issue. They said if I
install a fence or agree to do it, let them know so they can move things
along for me. I have an empty fenced chicken coop, think that counts? Just
kidding.

Not sure what is next, maybe a longer break from looking.

The 7 year old PWD is still available and the owner actually contacted
me a few days ago but I am not sure what to do. The uneasy feelings about
them are still there.

Sorry to hear that, Jenny.

I'm sure they think they have their reasons for insisting on a fence, and we
would be up a crick, because we have an invisible fence and have been told
that it isn't acceptable. The shame of it is, your home and mine, with and
IFence or no fence, would be very good homes for a dog without a home, and
isn't that the point of rescue? The dog would be lucky. Atty is so loved,
spoiled and well taken care of. For goodness sake, she sleeps on the couch
in the day and the bed at night, gets accupuncture and chiropractic care and
top notch allergy treatment. Quality of the home life seems a little more
important than cut and dry - no fence, no dog.

Do shelters require fences? I know my rescue did, but didn't know that
shelters required one also.

are these the ones that dropped off the face of the earth due to personal
issues?
if so, and thats what causes the uneasy feelings, then i wouldn't worry too
much about it . Perhaps, as far as the breeder is concered, the dog is ok
where he is, and there was no urgency for her when other things were
pressing.

yes, the owner had medical problems and then went on a trip. Now they are
responding to emails quickly. They also left a phone number. It makes me
feel a little better but something still seems off. Maybe the dog is just
not the one for me? Maybe another one is meant for me? Not sure, time will
tell I guess.
