Default doggie question

i got an old beagle. a lil background. one day at work (i work
on a farm) she came out ofthe woods and said 'feed me'. i did.
shes been happy since.
now she is just getting over some illness. my brothers beagle did
the same thing. stopped eating for 3-4 days, and puked everything
up. neither dog eill eat much, if any dry food. but both love to
munch on poop. what is missing in her diet? she used to not eat
poop.
jsut this last summer she learned about the wonder of
grasshoppers.

anyway, i jsut wanna know what shes missing in her diet, or why
she thinks she has to eat poop.

tick

.........I'd take a stool sample in to check for worms.

well, the dogs been tested for worms many times. she also has
been tested 3 times for lymes desease(sp). could this poop eating
somehow be linked to her breathing probs? seems like theres a lil
too much mucus in her. like shes has a year long cold. snores
loud n stuff.
maybe i should get her worm tested again at a 3rd vet...

even doggie vitimens dont stop the poop eating.

...........Does the vet know about the breathing problems? Are they testing
this dog on a regular basis for Lyme disease because you live in an area
with high incidence of the disease or because the vet suspects the dog has
the disease?

.........What kind of poop are they eating - horse, cow? Some dogs just like
to do that, and it may be a habit.

For the most part, eating poo is a behavior with dogs - a means of
controlling "their territory". Or just frankly maybe a gross habit. Our late
dog used to troll the litter box and claim innocense even though she had
kitty litter pasted to her nose.
