Vick was the bank roller in federal court, but will be the accused animal
abuser in state court.

"It does put a little bit more on the issue of the dogs themselves in state
court versus what we saw in federal court. I think you'll hear more specific
evidence dealing with the cruelty than we ever got in federal court," says
Attorney, Andrew Protogyrou. He's not representing Vick, but offered his
legal opinion to WAVY.com.

Since the Surry County grand jury found enough evidence to indict Vick on
two felony charges, Commonwealth's Attorney Gerald Poindexter is tasked to
follow through with the state's case says Protogyrou. "That indictment came
from the citizens of Surry County. They decided we want to prosecute this
case. We came back with a true bill prosecutor here, go do it."

Poindexter didn't return our calls for comment. Vick faces up to 10 years
in prison on state charges.

FALCONS COACH PETRINO RESIGNS

Petrino had a disappointing season in Atlanta, which started badly when
quarterback Michael Vick was indicted on federal dogfighting charges on July
17 and subsequently ordered to stay away from training camp by commissioner
Roger Goodell.

td, Thanks for all of the info. My thought is Vick will cop a plea on
the state charges. He can't very well deny them, since he already
admitted to killing "some of the dogs", as he likes to put it. Let's
hope consecutively?

I have been checking out ESPN off and on today. I don't care about
Petrino leaving, but I did hear Cowher (the former coach of the
Steelers, may take his place). I will be so sad. Cowher was my guy,
and I love the Steelers.
