Happiness is a Warm Puppy
Which I would believe even if I were not a Peanuts fan!
I came home around 1:00 yesterday, after having 3 teeth (2 molars, 1 wisdom) removed under general anesthesia (thank goodness!). Between the anesthesia, ice packs, and general malaise, I curled up on the sofa, DH got a fire going in the woodstove, turned on some HGTV and settled in. Fortunately, the energizer bunny puppy was very cooperative, and after a short period of trying to nibble on the ice bag, curled up on the sofa and slept pretty much all afternoon, with a few short potty breaks. I also had a cat of similar size curled up with me, and of course the 2 big dogs nearby, so even though DH went off shopping, I was well tended to. Marcie was a wild thing most of the evening after that nice rest, but I am always impressed how even the very young can be so intuitive about when we need that quiet from them. More ice packs throughout the day today, but besides the anesthesia hangover, not feeling too badly. Going to pick up the big girl drugs in case I need them (and will hold on to them for future use if not!), and hopefully I can give Marcie a bit more activity during the day today, to help keep her (and the rest of us) sane. -- Janet Boss www.bestfriendsdogobedience.com |

That's one of the things I love most about Miss Brown. She is happy to be doing whatever I'm doing. If that's a road trip, hiking in the woods, or being my personal hot water bottle, she's game. Hope you feel better soon. -- Shelly http://www.cat-sidh.net (the Mother Ship) http://esther.cat-sidh.net (Letters to Esther) |

It's amazing how they just know when you aren't feeling well. I know if I
feel bad and lay down I have them all curled up in bed with me. Celeste "Janet Boss" wrote in message ... Which I would believe even if I were not a Peanuts fan! Janet said in part....
Marcie was a wild thing, during most of the evening after the nice rest, but I am always impressed how even the very young can be so intuitive about when we need that quiet from them. _________________________ Janet, I love that about dogs, their intuitiveness. I find it absolutely amazing that Marcie is in tune with your condition at such a young age. I think that is a sign of more good things to come from her. My younger dogs have surprised me in the same manner. Sometimes, I am down and out physically, and they pace themselves and act accordingly, knowing that I will recover, and do my best to make up for the down time. It has been ongoing, so they have gotten the hang of it. The older dogs are in the same place I am, so they are fine. There is no good time for dental work, but just before Christmas is really a drag, hope you are feeling better soon. Be Free.....Judy |

I know you said they used a general, but even then they probably used *some* 'Novacaine', to keep the pain away longer. When they use that they put an 'extender' in with the Novacaine, to make it last longer. This is ephedrine. It's what makes us all have chills and keeps us awake, and feeling nauseous. I learned YEARS ago to ask for straight Novacaine, without the 'extender'. It has made the world of difference and absolutely NO hangovers. Had to take more pain pills sooner, and they usually have to give me an extra shot if it takes a long time for the procedure, but at least I wasn't under the covers shaking and chilly for an hour or more. Hope that helps, and hope old Grinch has learned to skip threads or block messages, as this has absolutely nuttin to do with dogs......oh wait..... I was bummed about the fact that Sammy is 9 months old, no baby teefies to collect.....bummer! Love ya, Mare |
