Apparently, he had been lying in bed like that, quite possibly the whole
time they had been gone.

Oh my goodness! A bear of very little brane, clearly, but I bet
he's hugely entertaining.

I've mentioned my friend's GSD before. He is ummm... different. Even other
dogs seem to realize it. Anyway, his folks had emptied out a bag of his dog
food, left it by the front door so they'd remember to throw it away later,
and went out for dinner. They came back to find this:

He's adorable, thanks for the picture! My two have their own *food bag*
rituals. When a new food bag is opened to fill their large storage tin with
food, they both have to come over and both *look* & *sniff* to be sure it's
the *right stuff* I guess. And when the last of the 40 pound bag is emptied
into their storage tin, they also have to look to be certain every last
morsel has been removed from the bag. Once they are certain of that, the
bag itself becomes irrelevant.

Dogs are such interesting and entertaining creatures, 'eh? So many
*habits/rituals* that must be followed.

Or maybe they like food, and the bag smells good to them.

I'm not sure about *must*. They do tend to be creatures of habit,
if left to their own devices.

You haven't *watched* my dogs. They don't try to gobble up the food out of
the bag. Their *interest* lies specifically in checking out the bag and
it's contents. Once it passes inspection, they give us the *look* that,
'yes, all is well in their world.' 'We have the *right stuff* in sufficient
quantities.' Just as when the can is emptied, they give us the 'worried
look'. A much different expression from the 'all is well' look. If I empty
the can in the morning, with their breakfast bowls, I get the 'worried
look'. Especially from my Gracie. I have to tell her "don't worry, daddy
is bringing more home." That seems to apease her worry a bit.

No, I haven't. If I had, and I knew for certain that you were
incorrect, I would have worded my response differently.

My dogs can solve partial differential equations. Well,
except for Cinder.

I wouldn't have a dog that doesn't have advanced cognitive
abilities.

It really bugs the hell out of you that my dogs and I have a line of
communication that doesn't involve mushing.

Looks like he's standing on a dollar too!
I've known oof 4 dogs that have died putting their heads in potato chip
bags. I cut them to shreds before I throw them out.
