Sammy, woobie junkie....
The first time I brought a load of groceries into the house was a fluke, or
so we thought..... Everytime I bring in groceries, I carry the bags up the front steps, and leave them inside the door, where hubby, (in wheelchair), uses a box, on his lap, and takes everything to put it all up. As he is doing this, none of the dogs paid attention to him. However, it's all over me, because (surprise of ALL surprises!!!) I came back home...AGAIN!! I think all of us go thru this. lol Sammy, the first week he was with us, looked thru over 15 bags and after checking and re-checking he finally withdrew a couple of cheap rubber toys, (Zack's fave kind, as he was so gentle.) These were the only things he pulled out amongst the very tasty tempting (people food), treats. Hub and I laughed about it, and thought it was a one off. shrug Well he's since proved just how quick he is. The following week I brought many bags from many other stores from a run to Wichita, (an hour each way). He honed right in on the PetSmart bag............no real big surprise. So, okay the guy knows the smell of stuffed woobies, rubber Zack toys, various other things, but never once touched any dog or cat foods! Now, I can imagine many dogs do this, but here's the 'twist', kinda scares me as he's really showing his brains. heh If there are no toys, treats, whatever dogs things in any of the bags, and husband has put up all the food, Sammy moves right over to my purse. Usually left unzipped, big, D&B, or 'Duck Purse', it sits on the floor, near me. *EVERY* single time there are no 'Sammy thangs', he will root around and pull out, from my purse, the receipt from the store! He takes it directly to my husband, (as *I* am the one doing 'wrong'), and gives it to him, watches as he reads it, and then starts to whimper! (As if to say, "Look, she forgot all about memememememe this time!!) The great one was on Saturday. My nephew, Frankie was over, with his g/f, visiting when I got home. After Sammy did his 'act', for Frankie, we laughed, watching Sammy taking the receipt to Dave (hub). Until he went back to my *purse*, whipped out a five dollar bill, and took it to Frankie, insisting he take it! (Like, Hey, you can get outta here, take this and go score a toy for me, okayokayokay??) I swear, he's such a goofy dog most of the time, and of course, nowhere near as smart as Rudy wry grin, but this guy is really really 'scary/creepy smart'. He's, in the past 3 months or so, turned from the 'Tazmanian Devil' to a woobie-thief-turned-junkie! If anyone stops by, leave your wallets in the car! shaking head Da Smiffs Den MaryBeth Boo Sammy-Bones Hannah, Pipedr and Isabella and if there is NO dog treat type in there, he will make a BEE LINE for my purse, which is near the door, with the reciept in it. He literally pulls out the reciept and looks it over. I swear he's looking for evidence of toys. LOL Last week, no toys, we took the reciept away, and he grabbed a five dollar bill out of my purse, and took it over to my nephew, visiting, and gave it willingly to F, virtually asking him to "goget me a toy, already wouldya???" |
