Default Handsome

So we were seeing news reports about Lance Mackey and he was hugging
Handsome. Handsome's face looks so much like Beanie's, they could be
twins. Of course, we couldn't see how his ears look, but she sometimes
relaxes hers...

When Beanie can lead a big team of dogs for 2000 miles in a
month, over some incredibly rough terrain and in -70F
temperatures, let me know! I just might be able to think of
a working home for her.

Handsome really stepped up in difficult circumstances,
during both the Quest and the Iditarod. Early in the
Iditarod Mackey's legendary leader Larry got into a fight
with his other legendary leader Hobo and Hobo was injured
badly enough to have to be dropped. The whole team was
running badly and there was diarrhea and coughing, but
Mackey's an incredible dog guy and gradually put his team
together well enough that they were looking pretty great by
the time they got to the coast and were downright perky and
animated at the finish line in Nome.

I watched the live broadcast of them coming into Nome
yesterday morning, and right before coming in off the ice he
stopped his team and went down the line and hugged each of
them, and the first thing he did when he crossed the finish
line was give each a snack. He's quite a guy.
