Default Excitable Puppy Peeing

We have a new puppy in the house (Shitzu, got at 3mo, now 6mo). We already
have a 7y old standard poodle - the dogs get along. We have broken the
biting habit, got her on a regular eating, peeing, pooping schedule, she
sleeps through the night great and is generally a pleasure to have around.
She is well house trained and lets us know when she has to go out.

However - she is very excitable and pees uncontrollably when anything
excites her. This can be anything from getting a treat or new toy, to
having one of us come home (if we are all out, she is crated) or even
getting petted if she has not been petted for a while.

Any suggestions?

Dan

What I did was to keep very low key whenever I entered the house, and told
others to do the same. When I entered the house I did not look at the dog,
but just kept walking past her making no big deal over her. I also told
people to speak to her in a low monotone voice; not high pitched spirited
tone. These practices seem to have worked out for me. My dog did stop
doing it. You can never yell at or punish a dog that does this, as it is
something they cannot control, and it will only make it worse.
I have attached two links on submissive and excited peeing. If you do a
search on this subject you will find lots of material on the internet.
