Default A reminder - not just for agility people

Matt's video over in activities reminded me of this one.

It's not just for agility people - although that's where it's making the
rounds. It's for anyone who has had a really special bond with a dog. And
with other dog people as well.

The warning sent to the agility people is to not watch it at work unless the
people there will bring you tissues.

Kinda makes you very goddamned thankful for what you've got, doesn't it.

To me, involved in the agility world, it also is such a celebration of what
it really means and is.

It's the bond with your dog. And it's also the friendships that you form.

I completely understand what Lis' did that day. According to the whole
story, her friends managed to convince her doctors to spring her from the
hospital just so that she could go and do that run.

That she needed just that one perfect run (and got it) to get the dog's
title makes it great Hero story. But I've had a few of those perfect runs
with my dogs and the title is completely irrelevant. (Although I can't
imagine what it would have been like for her friend to get it after her
death.) Heck, the Qualifying ribbon is irrelevant. (I've had some perfect
runs that weren't Qs. Had one last weekend.)

I cannot imagine what it took for her to step up to that startline. But I
do know what she had out there for those precious few seconds - with her dog
and with her friends on the sidelines. This isn't a story about death.
It's about Life.

Thank you for your perspective Judy, you put it beautifully. That bond is
something I cannot describe, but I feel it in every breath I take.

I am greatly saddened to know this. Happy, though, I was able to see her
last run with beloved Diva. Blessings, prayers and deepst condolences to
the entire family.

Kindest regards,
